Healthy
Healing is a practice that focuses on
three specialty areas of pain reduction,
stress reduction and
infertility treatment.
You Have the Power to Heal
This practice aims to treat patients with a caring attitude. Time
will be taken to assess your condition and provide you with
acupuncture and herbal treatments. In addition, diet choices,
lifestyle changes and exercises may
be discussed. Acupuncture and herbs can provide you with
a healing experience without most of the side effects usually
associated with Western
medications. Healthy Healing aims to give you a feeling of
well-being by helping you to harmonize the physical, mental
and emotional aspects of
your life.
What to Expect Your First Visit
The acupuncturist will take a complete medical history, the same
as a Western physician. She will take your pulse on three
places of each wrist. Some time will be taken to feel your pulses
to assess
qualities such as depth, rate and strength. She will then
ask to see your tongue. The tongue and pulse are very important
to the
practitioner to help make an Eastern Medicine diagnosis.Once
a diagnosis is made, acupuncture points are selected (or an herbal
formula is chosen). The number of treatment points can
range from 6 to 20 or more.
You will rest in a comfortable position with the needles retained
for 15 to 20 minutes during treatment. The needles are then
removed and other therapies may be applied. Many people experience
a feeling of relaxation while the needles
are retained, and many doze off to sleep. After treatment,
some people feel totally refreshed and full of energy while others
may feel like they woke from a deep sleep.
It is best to wear or bring loose clothing. Empty your bladder
before beginning the treatment. It is best to eat a light
meal at least 1 hour before the treatment.

Acupuncture is the art of inserting thin, disposable, sterile
needles at specific locations on the surface of the body.
The needles are much finer than the familiar hypodermic needle.
Acupuncture
accesses the qi or energy of the body and balances it accordingly.
Acupuncture has been proven to stimulate the release of
endorphins and induce a state of relaxation, balance and healing.
Herbology
Herbology is the oldest branch of Chinese medicine. It is
one of the most effective tools for healing the mind and
body. Traditional Chinese herbs
are prepared in a balanced formula. The formula is
tailored to the individual's condition and
constitution.
What
is Qi?
Qi (pronounced “chee”) is the Chinese name for energy
that flows through the body and gives us life. Qi is also
considered to be the basic substance by which all movement in
the universe
occurs. Acupuncture and herbal practitioners believe that
the therapy stimulates the body's internal regulatory system
and nurtures a
natural healing response by accessing the qi of the body.
Other Healing Therapies
CUPPING involves the use of glass or bamboo cups placed
on areas of the body. The practitioner creates a vacuum
by lighting
an alcohol swab in the cup and providing suction to the
skin. The cups can remain in place or can slide across
the body.
This is
a very pleasant experience with the feeling of a light
massage. This therapy removes qi and blood stagnation
and promotes
normal circulation.
TUI NA is an Oriental Bodywork Therapy
that has been used in China for 2,000 years. Methods
include the use of hand
techniques to massage the soft tissue (muscles and tendons)
of the body and
acupressure techniques to directly affect the flow of
qi.
